BREAKING NEWS: 10 inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish jail
Only 3 of the 10 escaped inmates have been recaptured
Times have been pretty rough for New Orleans residents recently.
Early Friday morning, 10 inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish prison on Gravier Street. This prison complex currently holds roughly 1,400 inmates awaiting trial— many for serious crimes.
As of this writing, state and local law enforcement have recaptured three of the ten escapees. Consequently, the Louisiana State Police has moved the three recaptured inmates to other facilities outside of New Orleans, The manhunt for the other seven escapees still continues on.
This jailbreak is certainly a major public safety issue for the residents of the Greater New Orleans area. Most of the escaped inmates have received criminal charges for murder and other violent crimes. So, please remain on high alert in the coming days for these prison inmates if you leave in South Louisiana.
Federal law enforcement is also offering a $5k award for information leading to the arrest of the remaining escapees.
The video below shows how the inmates escaped from the New Orleans jail. According the local officials, a defective door lock and a hole cut through a cell’s bathroom wall allowed the inmates to escape the prison around 1am on Friday morning.
Even worse, prison guards were not aware that these inmates escaped until several hours after the jailbreak occurred.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) then made the situation even worse by waiting to tell other local officials and media outlets about the jailbreak— essentially giving these fugitives a “head start” in their escape from justice.
On Friday evening, the OPSO decided to hold a media press conference to share information with local media and the general public about this concerning situation. You can watch part of this press conference in the video below:
In my opinion, the most interesting part of the OPSO’s press conference involved Sheriff Susan Hutson and local WDSU report Travers Mackel.
Near the end of the presser, Mackel directly asked Sheriff Huston if she would apologize for the OPSO’s poor handling of this situation. As expected, Huston went into “politician mode” by refusing to answer Mackel’s question and saying “well, first we need to find out exactly what happened …”.
New Orleans politicians are either remarkably incompetent and notoriously corrupt. In this case, Sheriff Susan Huston is a far-left political political activist who became the city’s Sheriff after defeating former incumbent Marlin Gusman in a low turnout runoff election in December 2021.
Some political commentators attribute Huston’s 2021 victory to the significant support hat she received from PACs funded by Mark Zuckerberg and George Soros.
Local elections do indeed matter, and the results of the 2021 municipal elections are coming back to haunt New Orleans citizens— especially when it comes to Sheriff Hutson and this inexcusable jailbreak.
On a closing note, I wanted to share a viral post of mine that I shared on the Twitter/X platform about the OPSO’s press conference. The post below highlights that the inmates are truly running the asylum known as the City of New Orleans in 2025. Only in “Clown World” do we have such incompetent politicians and local officials running our state’s largest city.
We here at the Louisiana First Standard will continue to monitor the situation regarding the 7 remaining escaped inmates, and you can expect more updates on this substack as this story continues to develop.
Thank you all for reading, and may Christ Jesus bless the state of Louisiana! Only Louisiana First!
