Hello all,
I just wanted to post a quick reminder this evening about tomorrow’s (Saturday, April 27) election here in Louisiana!
As was discussed in a post last week here on the Louisiana First Standard, Jefferson Parish residents will have two items on their election ballots—a runoff election for judge and a a property tax renewal.
So far, I have not yet endorsed a candidate in this runoff election for the 24th Judicial Court District. Both candidates have been running an extremely negative, mud-slinging campaign, so I honestly haven’t gotten a good feel for what either candidate actually stands for.
Regardless, I plan on voting for Jackie Maloney for this judicial seat. More of the local Jefferson Parish Establishment politicians (i.e. Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng and Sheriff Joe Lopinto) are backing Valenti, and Valenti does not have as much legal experience as Maloney. So, those are my reasons for backing Maloney in this run-off.
For the second item on the Jefferson Parish-area ballot, voters will get to decide if they want to renew a property millage dedicated to the Jefferson Parish Public school system.
But if you live in other parts of Louisiana, definitely go check out the Geaux Vote website to see what your sample ballot looks like. That way, you can be prepared before you go to the ballot box.
Anyways, thank you all for reading, and may Christ Jesus bless the state of Louisiana! Only Louisiana First!
