NOLA Jailbreak: 8 DOWN, 2 LEFT
Update: 3 more escaped inmates captured from the Orleans Parish jailbreak
Hello all,
I hope everyone’s weekend has gone well so far.
We here at the Louisiana First Standard have more BREAKING NEWS updates about the recent jailbreak from the Orleans Parish jail on May 16th.
Heading into Memorial Day last weekend, law enforcement had only apprehended 5 of the 10 escaped inmates from the New Orleans jail. But to the surprise of many, THREE more inmates were caught on Memorial Day—Leo Tate, Jermaine Donald, and Lenton Vanburen.
Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald escaped to East Texas following the New Orleans jailbreak ten days prior. Fortunately, Texas law enforcement captured both escapees after a high speed car chase in Walker County, Texas.
The video below shows Texas law enforcement capturing these two criminals:
Following their capture, Texas officials extradited Tate and Donald back to Louisiana during the week. Both fugitives are now in custody and under close supervision in Louisiana.
Besides the high-profile capture in Texas, Louisiana law enforcement caught fugitive Lenton Vanburen in Baton Rouge on Memorial Day. Oddly enough, Vanburen was just chilling out on a bench in public before an anonymous tip helped the Baton Rouge Police Department find Vanburen.
Additionally, local law enforcement agencies have cracked down on the alleged accomplices who helped the ten escapees. On May 26th, the Louisiana State Police announced the arrests of several individuals who supposedly assisted the fugitives Antoine Massey and newly-captured Lenton Vanburen.
At the current time, only two more escaped inmates are still on the loose: Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey. Both black males are accused of serious crimes— such as rape, murder, and kidnapping.
The combined reward for information leading to the arrest of these two fugitives is now a whooping $50,000.
