The Unnecessary Property Tax Hike in Jefferson Parish
Vote NO Today on the Jefferson Parish School Board's Property Tax Hike
Today, Jefferson Parish voters have the opportunity to either approve or reject a PROPERTY TAX HIKE on the ballot. Earlier this year, the Jefferson Parish School Board authorized a new property tax to provide for pay raises teacher in the Jefferson Parish school system.
Of course, the Jefferson Parish School Board decided to put this new tax on today’s low turnout election instead of the high turnout presidential election ballot last month. For many years, local government politicians in Louisiana have put new taxes on low turnout election dates in order to make it easier for their new taxes to pass.
The Louisiana First Standard encourages our readers in Jefferson Parish to go out and vote NO to the Jefferson Parish School Board's Property Tax Hike
The other week, I shared this unfortunate information about how much this property tax increase will cost Jefferson Parish homeowners if the tax increase passes:
According WWL, the potential property tax would raise one’s property tax bill by hundreds of dollars. For a $400k property, a property owner will pay another ~$350 per year in property taxes. For a $250k property, property owner will pay another ~$190 per year in property taxes.
Louisiana residents already pay more taxes than almost anywhere else in the country. On top of that fact, the Jefferson Parish public school system provides free education to many children of illegal aliens. This gravy train needs to end NOW. The hardworking property-owners of Jefferson Parish should not give more handouts to illegal aliens in Louisiana
Louisiana is one of the poorest states in the country but also one of the most heavily taxed states as well. This property tax hike will make things ever worse for the inflation-weary residents of Jefferson Parish
According to the Tax Foundation, Louisiana is ranked 40th in the Tax Foundation's 2025 State Tax Competitiveness Index. Louisiana lags well behind some of our economically more prosperous neighbors---such as Texas, Florida, and Tennessee.
Make sure to get your friends and family to vote against the unnecessary property tax hike on today’s election ballot in Jefferson Parish.
Thank you all for reading, and may Christ Jesus bless the state of Louisiana! Only Louisiana First!
