Hello all,
Happy Monday to the Louisiana First Standard audience! With Tax Day (April 15th) upon us, I wanted to share another post in the “Tweets of the Week” series here on the LA First Standard substack. Hopefully it will get your mind off of Tax day.
This past week had an interesting mix of both political and cultural events here in Louisiana. So, we’ll make sure to look at a variety of topics in this week’s post.
Without further ado, let’s dive right into 5 major Louisiana-news tweets from this past week:
1 Several high profile festivals occurred in South Louisiana last weekend—including French Quarter Fest and the Ponchatoula Strawberry festival
2. The LA Democrat State Central Committee (DSCC) replaces party chair Katie Bernhardt with new chair Randall Gaines
3. A Tornado damaged parts of the Slidell area last week. Tens of thousands of Louisiana residents lost power.
4 Legendary New Orleans singer Clarence “Frogman” Henry passes away at Age 87
5 A solar eclipse covered most of the sun for Louisiana residents on Monday afternoon
Lagniappe:
My ratio of failed LA Treasurer candidate Dustin Granger
Over the weekend, I decided call out one of our favorite opponents in Louisiana politics—failed state Treasurer candidate Dustin Granger.
Ever since he lost by 30% in last November’s runoff election to now-Treasurer John Fleming, Granger has been reduced to a delusional, Far-Left Twitter user. All he spends his time doing lately is spreading smears against Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and other Republican politicians in Louisiana.
Based on his prior tweets, Granger has shown his ignorance of basic Louisiana political history. For instance, Granger claimed in February that Republicans have run Louisiana into the ground for decades—despite Republicans only gaining a majority in the the state Legislature in 2011.
Even though Granger’s Twitter/X account has over 33x the amount of followers that I do. My repost of one of his tweets gained almost double the likes that his original post had. Thus, we here at the Louisiana First Standard successfully ratioed a larger account.
Anyways, thank you all for reading, and may Christ Jesus bless the state of Louisiana! Only Louisiana First!
